Meet the trainees
Before we find out the challenge, meet the top minds that are the trainees. Torstein Namtvedt Tuv and Julie Falch Gullaksen work in Telenor Business Norway and are learning about how Telenor positions itself within the business segment of the Norwegian market.
Lavinia Chrystal is working on new products for Norwegian private customers in Telenor Mobile, whereas Silje Marie Vatne is developing the entertainment channels in Canal Digital. Finally, Marius Heiberg is exploring Telenors Global Product portfolio.
Now for the challenge
The five trainees have been given a mission by Telenor Group CEO Sigve Brekke: to come up with a product, service or app to improve
Telenor either internally or for its customers.
This is quite a challenge as Telenor operates in 12 countries and has over 175 million customers, meaning that there is an enormous variety of potential ideas to explore!
The aim is to present their suggestions for the CEO in June and until then, time is spent drilling down on specific product ideas.
Fresh mountain air for innovation
So how are they doing with the challenge?
After a lot of time spent on brainstorming, finding the areas where Telenor has the most potential, discussing with internal and external experts, the team were left with seven ideas, ranging from e-Health to education and transport.
To focus, the trainees even locked themselves away in a mountain cabin to do further research and decide on which of the seven ideas are the winning tickets.
The result: The trainees have narrowed it down to four projects around waste optimization, aquaculture, eSim and smart transportation. Currently, they’re on a worktrip in Asia and will also do some valuable research for the four projects.
